Starting from my introduction to Moro, guitarist of the band, my interest about the scene Punk / Hc from Spain getting bigger. Knowing more good bands, good quality, but still on track DIY, makes me at least be raised and introduced to the general public one of these bands from Spain.CODIA is the band Hc / Punk formed in late 2007. Derived from members of other bands such as NASGHUL, Blunt, UNDER THE WAVES and POTOMBO.
This interview took place via myspace and instantly get a quick response.
Ok let's get to know the background of many bands who made major contributions in the scene Hc / punk DIY in Spain.

Q: hi codia! firstly thank you for answering this interview.
okay we begin this interview with whom I speak in this session?
A: Here Moro
Q: Can you tell me how and when was codia formed? and the people who involved codia.
A: CODIA starts at the end of 2007 in A coruña, with members of anothers bands of the same city like Nasghul, Blünt, Under the waves and Potombo.

Q: Please let me know what kind of music codia bring?
A: well our first intention was play fast hc/punk like Los Crudos or Limp Wrist, and in the first record I think , you can hear this influence , but then we decided change and doing more melodic vocals and even the music, I think now we are more similar to satanic surfers or strike anywhere….but Not so much hehehe
Q: About the recording of your stuffs? How did you manage this? Do you have any record labels as for now?
A: We has release our first album on CD is called “mala hierba nunca muere” and now we are looking for labels to release the next album , we have just finished but it doesn´t have tittle yet!!!
We have some Spanish labels , but we would like get some labels out of spain…
Q: Of all your releases, What do you consider as your favorite song? What is the lyric all about?
A: I think our favourite song is “las normas del progreso “ it is on the last record, and the lyrics talks about our society and how the feeling that you are not the own of your life , finally to get the good style of life “the American dream” well , in this case the “Spanish dream”.
Q: What is the latest stuff of Codia as for now?
A: We are doing the desing of the second album and we hope release on the nexts months.
Q: About the band's name - Codia? What does this mean to you?
A: Codia means crust but not in Spanish , it means crust in the own galicia´s language.
We thought was funny do a band in our city (there is a lot of crust music, well there was…) called crust , no playing crust….. hehe
A: Well I think nothing in hc/punk scene has change because of the crisis, at least in Spain and in the most of Europe, it depends of the new generation of young people not of the global crisis!!!!
Q: How is it affecting your own way of music?
A: Well I think now we play more melodic and maybe more worked music ( but no so much hahahaa), but I don´t think the global crisis affect our music , maybe our lyrics, now there are positive lyrics …
Q: Who is the main lyricist of the band?
A: It depends the song, the moment of each one of us , and the ideas we want explain, but we make lyrics among Lupe, Álvaro and me. On the last record I think there are more lyrics made for me, in”mala hierba nunca muere” there are more lyrics by Álvaro.
Q: What is the main idea of your lyrics? Do you prefer to write political lyrics? Have you ever written any environmental lyrics?
A: Like I said before depends the song , the moment and a lot of things , we have political lyrics , lyrics that talk about the nature , animals, humans …. But also we have love lyrics and even more personal lyrics ….
Q: Let me ask you something personal about your beliefs on anarchy, Do you think that in some way we can achieve peaceful community by the idea of anarchism?
A: Well I think anarchy is not the solution for the global peaceful, I think the only thing that it cans achieve the global peace is the extinction of humankind , I think we are the only and the main problem for the world and even the universe!!
Q: If you can still remember the first hardcore/punk music that you did listen in the first place? do you agree that most of the punk people were broadminded?
A: I think it was Sex Pistols or Ramones…. Then Bad Religion ….
Well it depends you understand for punk people, you can see a lot of “punks” only for their clothes but then they are only cool people who want to be fashion or even Nazis inside them or only junks , for me they are not punks , I think there are a lot of people with “punk mind” and even they don´t know anything about punk….
I don´t know if I have explained well …. Yes, the punks should be broadminded , but never knows !!!
Q: By the way can you enlighten us the real demography of the band since the first emergence to me and indonesian scene?
A: I don´t know if I have understood well this question… hehe , well we started with intention to be a DIY band , we usually play in squats or small pubs, but it is no easy because for the punks we are hardcore and for the hardcore people we are punks… and in our town we usually play with crust or punk bands, because here there is a lot of crust (well at least before , now less ….).
Q: What else can we trust about Codia in the near future?
A: Well I hope we continue playing, recording and driving a lot to know nice people and nice places!!!
Q: Do you have any split release project with other bands from neighboring countries?
A: Not yet , but we would like someday , but not only from neighboring contries , from any part of the world.
Q: Do you have any plans to make some tour S.E especially in indonesia?
A: Because these days so many bands from other countries visited Indonesia in particular asia.
already toured more than 19 bands from last year who come here.
Well I would like to go to play to Asia not only Indonesia , I like a lot of Japanese punk and hardcore, for example, but it is difficult for us , we have to combine our jobs and families with the band, I don´t promise anything hehehe….
Q: There are plans ahead for codia?
A: Well our plans for this year are release the record, and we hope go on tour by Italy , croatia and slovenia this autumm, the next year who knows!!
